The project is starting!!!!! We’ve decided on a layout for the flats!

Today Mike started to cut the frame/rib where we’ll build the hallway. He is lowering it so we can put the floor on the right hight after.
It’s so exciting!!!!!
I was working at the kindergarten this week so I wasn’t there to see when he did it. But coming home and see all the hard work he’s been doing is amazing!
He’s cut it with the new plasma cutter and welded it back in a lower place.

He also replaced the window in the bedroom and I’ve put the window trim around and painted it.

Today we went and bougth 60 chipboards for the floor. It’s a bit to early to get it now 😉 but there was a guy selling new ones very cheap so we decided to buy them now and save some money.
It was a bit heavy (about 1 tonne…) to first put all of them into the trailer, unload them to the wagon, carry on to Vilde and then down in the hull but now they are all there.

It’s been snowing here the last couple of days. It looks very pretty with the white snow on the jetty. We had to remove it though because it was a bit slippery.

Mike has reinforced around the wall that he’s making a hole in to make the opening between the hallway and the flat. Today he cut out the hole with the plasma cutter. It looks very cool when he does it!

Our friend Jan was here and helped today. He brought a lot of firewood for us. It’s getting colder now so it’s nice to be able to use the fireplace to keep us warm.

Mike and him installed the ventilation fan that I bought today and cut a hole in the side of the boat and put our old bedroom window there. The ventilation is so much better down there now.

They also went and bought some steal beams that we’re going to use for reinforcement when Mike cuts the frame.

The last few weeks Mike has been lowering the frame for the floor. It’s been a lot of work! A lot of measuring, cutting and welding. Now we’re starting to see what it will be like with the hight in the flats and we’re really pleased!

Where the walk-in closet and bathroom is going to be it will be a bit lower to the ceiling because he couldn’t lower the frame there. We knew this before he started and made the layout so it would work anyway.

I have been cleaning the bottom, sprayed foam insulation in places where it was needed and painted with rustspray where Mike has cut, to prepare for the next step.

Mike has attached wood to the steal frame to be able to screw the chip board floor.
When we took over the boat the previous owner left some insulation. We have been moving it around quite a lot to be able to work. Now we’ve moved it for the last time and put it down in the bottom of the boat. We’ve decided to insulate the whole bottom to keep Vilde nice and warm and also for sound-proofing.

I’ve started to paint upstairs.
When we moved in we decided not to do anything in the house.
But…. When we got the new switches and sockets that we ordered, of course we wanted so see what they looked like on a freshly painted wall. We have bought black and white switches and sockets to see which one we like.
So now I’ve taken everything down from the walls and moved the piano to do the painting. It’s a lot more work when the room is not empty… but it’s worth it! I couldn’t stop there so I painted the windows and renovated them, now it looks really nice and clean.

We also had a guy here to tune the piano. It sounds really nice now.
