In the morning we went to a different part of Spiagge bianche “the white beach”. We wanted to see what it looked like in daylight.
The first thing we saw when we parked was a sign saying “Bathing water quality: EXCELLENT. Hmm, I’m not sure I trust that sign after reading it’s one of the 15 most polluted beachs on the Mediterranean coast.
We have to agree it’s a beautiful beach and the water looks amazing and if we didn’t know why, we would have liked it. The water is unbelievably turquoise and it has a glow to it we’ve never seen before. It’s so sad that the factory are allowed to dump their wastewater into the ocean.
We continued to Cascate del Mulino in Saturnia. It’s geothermal waterfalls that dates back to the Roman times. It starts from an underground source and flows down, rapidly in some places, to a very beautiful place that looks like terraces carved out in the stone. It keeps a temperature of 37.5 degrees. It’s been used for more than 3000 years and the water has made the stone smooth and carved out pools in the limestone where you can sit and relax. It’s a bit smelly from sulphur but it was definitely worth it!
We passed a lot of vineyards on our way to lago Bolsena but didn’t stop at any of them. Next time.
We found a perfect spot right next to the the lake where we parked for the night.
Mike made taco pie in the oven for dinner and it was really good. We’re glad we bought it before we left Sweden.
After a rainy night we woke up to a sunny morning. The view when we opened the door was magical. Everything was so calm and quiet and the sun was shining.
We had our coffee outside and just enjoyed the morning.
We’ve had a very relaxing day at the lake and tried our drone, tent and mattresses. We’re very pleased with all of it!
We’re really looking forward to learn how to use the drone a bit more, it opens up so many cool ways of taking photos and video.
In the evening we went for a ride along the lake. Since lago di Bolsena is of volcanic origin the sand is all black. It has not been active since 104 BC, so it felt quite safe to stay there 🙂
We woke up to a beautiful sunrise at the lake. The reason that we were up so early was that we were going to Umbradiesel in Terni to check some things on Snigel. Some of you know that they changed our engine, turbo and clutch and some more things in April! It was a big big job and because of Easter it took a long time to get all the parts. Most of the conversation about the engine problem was done with the help of Google translate 🙂
They all became our friends and took really good care of us and Snigel. We now have many friends in Terni that we will visit.
It felt good to drive into the mechanic ourselves this time and not be on a towing truck… It was great to see everyone and after some small talk (mostly with Google translate) we took our bikes and went to the center of Terni. We went to one of our favourite cafés and had pizza and cappuccino in the sun.
We walked around for a while and then went to the shopping center to try to find a good powerbank to be able to charge the batteries for the phone and drone in the desert. We spent so much time here in the spring so we know where to go to find different things. On our way back to Ubradiesel it felt like a déjá vu, the only thing this time was that we were not nervous about hearing how Snigel is.
They did a fantastic job as always and made some adjustments and checked so that everything was ok. We also put in a boost pin that will give her a bit more power going uphills.
When we asked them how much everything cost they said: Nothing! Thank you so much! We have put you down as our sponsors. Hope to see you all in Tunisia for the Sahara international festival of Douz!
We have now parked outside Armeni & Manni where we’re going to do a wheel alignment tomorrow, thanks Umbradiesel for the recommendation!
