When we woke up in the morning it was to a great view. We could see the desert, camels eating and Mount Timbaine in the distance. It felt like we were all alone, only us and the sand and it was a beautiful way to wake up.

We had breakfast and then drove to Camp Mars where it was going to be a music festival in the evening. They were putting up the stage and preparing everything for the night. Ahmed and Fathi talked to some friends and then we went back to Camp Abdelmoula and had a relaxing day in the sand.

After dinner we drove back to the festival. We had a great time and danced a lot. It’s not every day you go to a party in the Sahara desert!

We had some breakfast before we left Camp Abdelmoula and started to drive back towards Douz. We enjoyed the last dunes and then came to a fenced area. Ahmed told us it’s Jebil national park and it’s 150 000 hectares and the largest national park in Tunisia. We had a lunch stop before we came back to the souk in Douz.

We have had some amazing days in the desert. The weather has been nice and Fathi was an excellent driver!
He was really skilled and it was very interesting to sit in the back while he was driving in the dunes. It’s not easy to drive in the desert but by the way he drove you could tell this was not the first time for him 🙂 He could read the sand so well and when he couldn’t make it up on the dune the first time he just reversed and tried it again, all the time without any stress and looking really relaxed.
The desert is fantastic and we’re already looking forward to the next time we’re going there!
