Day 9
Today when we came to Ahmed’s shop he told Mike that it was some people that wanted to interview him about the camel race. When we got to where the camels are there were a lot of people waiting for us. They were from the Tunisian camel race association and told us about the world championship in camel racing that is going to be here in Douz 23-24 November. They invited us to come and sit with them to watch it, we’re really excited about this!
They were filming while he prepared Lahjal for the training and asked Mike how we ended up here and how he decided to participate in the race. This was a great twist to the day and not something we could have imagined when we woke up this morning!
Mike and Ahmed had a good training session and when they came back we sat down and had some Swedish coffee, tea and peanut sweets that Mike had made.
After showering at the campsite we had dinner with Ahmed and Leonie at his shop. It was a relaxed evening after a great day.
