Meeting friends and an overheated Snigel

We did the wheel alignment in the morning and it felt really good to drive Snigel after that. Before, she was pulling a bit to the left but now it felt better.

After that we went to the dentist. I’ve started to have some problems with one of my teeth so I wanted to check it before we continue south. Last time we were here in Terni we got to know a lot of people here. One of them is a dentist so she booked an appointment for me. It was a bad ending for my tooth and I had to pull it out… I’m glad Eva was there with me to check and to translate the bad news.

We decided to meet her and Giorgio for dinner at Il Roccolo. We went there straight away and luckily they had a big parking with a wonderful view! I slept the pain away for a while and Mike tried the drone, played on his hand pan and guitar.

Eva and Giorgio came in the evening, unfortunately Giorgio had to go before we got the food because he was having a course in cave exploring and rock climbing. The three of us had a nice dinner together and made plans to meet up in the mountains where Giorgio was doing the course the day after.

We asked the owner of the restaurant if we could stay at the parking for the night and it was no problem at all.

Today in the morning we took it easy. We had some breakfast and then started to drive towards Costacciaro where we were going to meet up. It was a lot of uphill and Snigel felt great! But, after about 20 minutes we smelled burnt rubber and the temperature got really high. There was a rest stop after just a few hundred meter so we pulled in. We opened the bonnet and the coolant was really hot, the warning lamp flashed just when we stopped but it didn’t start to boil.

We got in contact with our mechanic and he sent someone to where we were staying. After checking some things they asked if we could stay until Monday so that our mechanic could have a look.

So, instead of going to the mountains to meet Eva and Giorgio, we’re now back in Terni waiting to go to the workshop… we didn’t have any problem driving back and the temperature was fine but we still don’t know what caused the problem.

Last time we were here we cycled to a lake only 5 minutes from the workshop. There is a restaurant there and they have a big parking. We explained our situation and asked if we could stay until Monday. Of course it was no problem. Pizza for dinner tonight 🙂

We needed some juice and bread for breakfast so we took our bikes and followed the GPS to the closest food store. After a while we started to recognise everything and realised that we were very close to where we did the skydiving for my birthday in April. This is also where Snigel broke down totally and we had to change the engine…
We past the first workshop that had been really helpful last time, it was closed for the day so we couldn’t say hi. We bought some food and then went back to the parking. We were starting to feel a bit hungry so around 18.45 we went down to the restaurant to get some dinner. They didn’t open until 20.00 so we had to wait a bit. It was definitely worth it, we had the best pizza!
